About Bryan Clay
Following an impressive performance at college, Bryan Clay was selected to represent the United States at the Olympic Games in 2004. Competing in the decathlon event, Clay returned from the competition with a silver medal.
The following year, he won his first gold at the World Championships. In 2008, in the same event, the Texas-born athlete won his first Olympic gold. He has also won gold medals at the World Indoor Championships.
Family
His parents are Greg Clay and Michele Ishimoto. The athlete spent his early years with his brother Nikolas. He has been married to Sarah Smith with whom he fathers three kids named Jacob, Elizabeth and Katherine Clay.
Education
During his time at Azusa Pacific University, he was a member of the school’s track and field team.
Trivia
He was one of the speakers at the 2008 edition of the Republican National Convention.
Former American athlete Mike Barnett was his coach during his time in college.
