About Christopher Tolkien
Christopher Tolkien was a trained Royal Air Force pilot who also served as a flying officer in the Second World War before pursuing his passion in the literary arts. As the son of celebrated author J.R.R. Tolkien, he had been heavily involved in the former’s “The Lord of the Rings” novel by drawing the map of the places described in the story. He is also known for editing and publishing his father’s posthumous works. As an author, he wrote “The Battle of the Goths and the Huns” and translated the Icelandic legendary saga into the English version “The Saga of King Heidrek the Wise”.
Family Life
His mother was Edith Mary Tolkien and had three siblings. He was married twice. His first marriage to Faith Faulconbridge produced a son, Simon. He had two children from his second marriage to Baillie Klass.
Achievements
He was honored with a Bodley Medal in 2016.
