Chuck D is the stage moniker of American entertainer, Carlton Douglas Ridenhour. Chuck D is noted for specializing in such fields as rapper, producer and author.
He is known best for his membership of the rap group, Public Enemy, which he co-founded and has been serving as the leader. He also helped the group churn out socially and politically conscious hip hop songs. In 1996, he released his debut studio album, “Autobiography of Mistachuck”.
With Public Enemy, he released albums such as “Yo! Bum Rush the Show”, “Fear of a Black Planet” and “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back”.
Personal Life
He was raised in Queens, New York City. He earned a BFA in graphic design from Adelphi University in 1984.
Achievements
In 2013, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Public Enemy.
Collaborations
He has collaborated on music with the likes of Janet Jackson, John Mellencamp, Kool Moe Dee, Ice Cube and Run-D. M. C.
