About Clarence White
The American guitarist is known for creating the B-Bender, a mechanism which helps guitarists to bend the B-string to enable them produce the sound of a pedal steel guitar.
Family
He was born to Eric LeBlanc in 1944. His family initially used the surname “LeBlanc” but later changed their surname to “White”.
He had a daughter called Michelle White.
Career
At the age of ten, White formed the Little Country Boys band with his two brothers. From 1954 to1973, he performed with a number of bands including Nashville West, Kentucky Colonels and The Byrds. With the latter, he produced albums “Ballad of Easy Rider”, “Farther Along” and “ Live at the Fillmore”.
As a solo artist, he released the following albums: “Flatpick” in 2006 and “White Lightnin’” in 2008.
Association
He collaborated with Tut Taylor to release the album “Flatpickin’” in 2003.
Honor
White was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016.
Death
He met his untimely death in 1973 after being hit by a drunk driver.
