About Danny Thomas
Danny Thomas was an actor, singer, philanthropist, comedian and producer. Born Amos Muzyad Yaqoob Kairouz, he used the pseudonym Danny Thomas in the early 1940s to hide the fact that he was a nightclub comedy act from his family and friends.
He appeared in a few films in the late 1940s and early 1950s before finding fame on television as the star of the sitcom, “The Danny Thomas Show”, which ran from 1953 until 1964.
Outside of entertainment, he garnered admiration for his philanthropic projects, which include the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Family Life
Both his mother, Margaret Taouk and his father, Charles Yaqoob Kairouz, were Lebanese immigrants to the United States. He had three children with his wife, Rose Marie Cassaniti.
Achievements
He is an inductee of the Television Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Death
He died of heart failure on 6 February 1991.
