About Denis Diderot
Denis Diderot was a renowned French writer, philosopher, art critic and encyclopedist best remembered for being a co-founder, contributor and editor of the general French encyclopediaEncyclopédie, which was published between 1751 and 1772. In addition to his work on Encyclopédie, he is also known for such famous novels as Jacques the Fatalist and Paradox of the Actor.
Personal Life
He was born to Angélique Vigneron and renowned French craftsman Didier Diderot. In 1743, he got married to Anne-Antoinette Diderot. The couple had four children, all of whom died in infancy with the exception of Marie Angélique Diderot.
Trivia
As a youth, his father disowned him after he refused to follow any of his learned professions.
