About Don Cornelius
Don Cornelius was a popular TV producer and host from the United States of America. He was famously recognized as the creator and host of Soul Train, a dance and music show. Prior to his TV hosting career, he served as a United States Marine Corp for 18 months. In 1966, after pursuing a three-month course in broadcasting, Cornelius was employed by WVON as its news reporter, announcer, and disc jockey.
The following year, he joined WCIU-TV. Cornelius hosted several shows including “A Black's View of the News”.

He was educated at DuSable High School.
Family
He married twice. In 1956, he married his first wife called Delores Harrison but divorced her in 1976. In 2001, he wedded his second wife named Viktoria Chapman but also divorced her in 2009. He birthed two children named Anthony Cornelius and Raymond Cornelius.
Death
In 2012, he committed suicide by shooting himself.

His legal name was Donald Cortez Cornelius.
Some of Cornelius’ famous catchy words before the close of his show were ‘and you can bet your last money, ‘honey! I'm Don Cornelius’, and ‘we wish you love, peace, and soul!’
He also appeared in films such as “Tapeheads”, and “Unsung”.
In 2008, Cornelius was arrested and charged with a crime of felony domestic violence.
In 2008, he sold his show “Soul Train” to MadVision Entertainment.
He was a Radio Hall of Famer.
