About Evgeni Plushenko
Evgeni Plushenko is considered as one of the greatest figure skaters of his generation. He started gaining international attention in 1997 when he won the World Junior Championships.
Career
In 1998, he won the bronze prize at the World Championships. Before leaving the sport in 2017, the Russian had won a total of four Olympic medals. He also won seven European championships and three World championships.
Personal Life
He was privileged to spend his early years with his parents and sister. The skater married Maria Ermak in 2005 and the following year they announced the arrival of their son called Egor Evgenievich. The couple finalized their divorce in 2008, before he tied the knot with Russian record producer Yana Rudkovskaya the following year. Their children are Arseniy and Alexander.
Education
Plushenko graduated from Lesgaft University in 2005. He also studied at the University of Engineering and Economics in Saint Petersburg.
Achievements
He occupied the top spot on the International Skating Union’s World Standings from 2001 to 2005.
Trivia
He equaled the most medals won by a figure skater at the Olympics in 2014. The record was initially held by Gillis Grafström from Sweden.
As a coach, he has trained some well-known figures like Alexandra Trusova and Sofia Muravieva.
