About Gabby Hayes
Gabby Hayes’s popularity increased between 1935 and 1939 when he appeared in many films as Windy Halliday, Hopalong Cassidy’s sidekick. He joined Republic Pictures in 1939 where he brought life into the Gabby Whitaker character. Some popular films that he starred in were “In Old Monterey”, “In Old Caliente” and “Young Bill Hickok”.

At birth, he was named George Francis Hayes and was the third child of Clark Hayes and Elizabeth Morrison. He had six other siblings and was married to Olive E. Ireland.
Honors
In 1960, two stars were placed on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame in his honor. His name was included in the Western Performers Hall of Fame in 2000.
