Georgia Bright Engel was an American actress, who is best remembered for playing the role of Georgette Franklin Baxter in The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1972-1977), and for portraying Pat McDougall in Everybody Loves Raymond (2003-2005).
Family Life
She was born to Coast Guard admiral, Benjamin Franklin Engel and Ruth Caroline Hendron. She grew up with her sisters known as Robin Angel and Penny Lusk.
Achievements
In 1971, Engel received a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the BAFTA Awards.
She earned two Emmy nominations for her role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Between 2003 and 2005, Engel received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series based on her appearance in Everybody Loves Raymond.
In 2016, she won the Obie Award for Distinguished Performance by an Actress.
Trivia
She was a firm devotee of Christian Science, thus she did not consult doctors even before she died in 2019.
