Glenda Jackson was a British actress and politician best known for her roles as Gudrun Brangwen in the romantic drama film Women in Love (1969), and as Vickie Allessio in the romantic comedy film A Touch of Class (1973), with both performances earning her an Academy Award for Best Actress. Her other notable films that garnered her award nominations include the dramas Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971) and The Incredible Sarah (1976), and the biographical films Mary, Queen of Scots (1971) and Stevie (1978).
Politics
Aside from her stellar acting career, Jackson was also a former Member of Parliament, representing Hampstead and Kilburn, who first gained her position in 1992 after retiring from her acting career. She held the position until 2015.
