About Harry Northup
Harry Northup is known for his craft as an American poet and some of his remarkable poems are “Red Snow Fence” (2006), “Where Bodies Again Recline” (2011), “East Hollywood: Memorial to Reason” (2015) and “Love Poem to MPTF” (2020).
Personal life
Northup went to California State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He also learnt Method acting.
The American poet had a child with his first wife and he later married Holly Prado and he lost her in 2019.
Career Highlight
Growing up, his desire to be a poet was inspired by the likes of other prominent poets such as Walt Whitman, William Carlos Williams and Paul Blackburn.
His first poem was published in 1966 titled “Amarillo Born” and he has gone ahead to release other notable poems.
As an actor, he has been featured in several films, making his first screen debut in “Who’s That Knocking at My Door”, a 1967 drama film written and directed by Martin Scorsese. His other featured films include “Crazy Mama”, “Two-Minute Warning” and “The Deliberate Stranger”.
In 2006, Harry Northup received a Certificate of Recognition and the award was presented to him by the L.A. City Council.
