About Hilda Doolittle
Hilda Doolittle was regarded as one of the most influential modernist poets during the 20th Century. Using her initials (H.D.) as her pen name, the American writer worked for about five decades in which she wrote in other formats and genres.
In 1909, she recorded her first published work which was featured in The Comrade. In 1931, she published perhaps her most popular poem entitled "The Mysteries: Renaissance Choros".
She also wrote many novels which included “The Sword Went Out to Sea” and “Notes on Thought and Vision”.
Family
Her parents were Charles and Helen, and she was raised together with five brothers. She was romantically linked with Ezra Pound, also a poet. In 1913, she married fellow writer Richard Aldington.
Education
Doolittle had her education at Bryn Mawr College.
Trivia
In 1916, she joined The Egoist magazine as an associate editor.
As a way of ending her bisexuality trauma, she consulted Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud.
