Joan Osborne is a versatile American singer who has mastered many genres including R&B, country, and pop. She started performing during her days in the university in order to generate money to support her education.
After performing at a number of open mics in New York City, Osborne created her own music group. This opened doors for her to perform in nightclubs and other social centers. In 1991, she launched her record label named Womanly Hips through which she released her maiden album dubbed “Soul Show: Live at Delta 88”.
"One of Us", which is part of her 1995 studio album “Relish”, is widely seen as her most popular single.
Collaborations
During her time as a member of the Trigger Hippy band, she performed alongside top musicians like Jackie Greene, Steve Gorman, and Tom Bukovac. She has also shared the same platform with American singer Mavis Staples.

She gave birth to a daughter in 2004.

In 1996, she was shortlisted for five Grammy Awards including “Song of the Year” and “Album of the Year”. She won the “Woman of Achievement Award” at the 2010 Women's Project Theater.
