Growing Up
The news presenter was born to Jesse Ernest Swayze and Christine Cameron. Swayze graduated from the Culver Military Academy before enrolling and graduating from the University of Kansas.
Career
Swayze started his career as a radio editor and reporter for the Kansas City Journal Post. He started his program called "Stranger Than Fiction" in 1933 and later moved to work for NBC as News and Special events director in 1946. He later became an anchor for the network from 1948 to 1962. From 1950 until 1963, Swayze hosted and narrated the long-running television drama series called “The Armstrong Circle Theatre".
Personal Life
The mews presenter was married to Beulah Mae Estes from 1935 to 1995. Swayze died in 1995 and was survived by 2 children.
Trivia
Swayze began his career as an actor, but his Broadway career ended when the number of roles he received dwindled following the 1929 Wall Street Crash.
