About John James Audubon
John James Audubon was celebrated for painting a picture which contained all North America birds. By doing so, he discovered twenty-five new species of birds. In the 1800s, when then President of the United States Thomas Jefferson placed a ban on trade with the British, Audubon started fishing and hunting in order to cater for his family.
The American ornithologist later joined the Western History Society where he became the first worker to be paid by the company. It was during his time with the organization that he came up with the idea of painting a picture which would contain all the birds in North America.
Between 1827 and 1839, he produced a color-book series which was entitled “The Birds of America”.
