About Johnny Damon
After making his debut in the MLB in 1995, Johnny Damon quickly established himself as one of the finest talents in the league. For five years, he played for the Kansas City Royals. He became a household name when he signed for the Boston Red Sox in a deal worth in the region of $30 million. It was during his time with the club that he won his first World Series in 2004.
The following year, he joined the New York Yankees. During his last season with the team in 2009, he won the World Series again. He also played for other renowned teams like Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland Athletics, and the Cleveland Indians.
Family
His parents were simply referred to as Yome and Jimmy. He has a Thai background through his mum. He married his longtime girlfriend Angela Vannice in 1992, but divorced ten years later. They were blessed with a set of twins. He has six kids with Michelle Mangan, whom he married in 2004.
Education
He was a very active sportsman during his days at Dr. Phillips High School.
Honors
He won the KC Royals “Player of the Year” in 2000. He was later inducted into the Asian American Hall of Fame in 2017.
Trivia
He played in a number of qualifying games for Thailand’s baseball team.
During his time in high school, he participated in football and track events.
