About José José
José José Was a Mexican musician who also dabbled in acting. Born from a musically-oriented family, he began his musical career as a youngster, playing guitar and singing in serenades.
In the early 1970s, he gained popularity as a solo performer. He topped the Latin charts during that decade after demonstrating his tenor vocal skills with a spectacular rendition of "El Triste" during a Latin music event held in Mexico City in 1970.
His voice received widespread critical acclaim from musical colleagues and the media after gaining a reputation as a balladeer.
José came to worldwide popularity in the 1980s after signing with Ariola Records as one of the most popular and skilled Latin artists.
