About Kirby Puckett
After signing for Major League Baseball side Minnesota Twins in 1982, American former baseball player Kirby Puckett spent his first two years in the Appalachian League, and the California League. He made his MLB debut in 1984 and mostly played as a center fielder.
In his 12 years career with the Twins, he won the World Series championship two times. He was also selected into the All-Star on ten occasions.
Legal challenges
Despite his successes on the pitch, Puckett had many issues with the law. In 2002, he was charged with a number of offenses including sexual misconduct, assault, and false imprisonment. He was later cleared of all charges after he was found not guilty.
Personal Life
He had two kids with Tonya Hudson named Kirby Jr. and Catherine.
Education
His performance at Calumet High School earned him a place at Bradley University. He later moved to Triton College.
Honors
In 2001, he became a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He won both the Gold Glove Award, and the Silver Slugger Award six times. He received the Roberto Clemente Award in 1996.
Trivia
In 1996, He was asked to retire after developing an eye issue.
Before his retirement, he was only the fourth MLB player to score 1,000 hits during his first five calendar years in the league.
