She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to wealthy parents. Her father, Julien Hyer, was a judge. She graduated from North-western University with a degree in drama.
Career Highlights
She made her debut film appearance in the 1946 psychological thriller “The Locket.” She then co-starred with Humphrey Bogart in the film “Sabrina.” Before she retired at 50, she starred in the crime film “The Day of the Wolves” in 1971.
Marriages
She was formerly married to Ray Stahl, but the two split up in 1955. She found love again in her second husband, Hal B. Wallis. The couple broke up in 1986.
Recognition
“Some Came Running” got her a nomination from the Academy Awards for “Best Supporting Actress” in 1959.
Death
She died from natural causes in 2014, aged 89.
