About Martin O'Malley
Martin O'Malley was still in his teens when he actively joined politics. He started his career as a member of the Gary Hart campaign trail ahead of the 1984 presidential elections. Four years later, Barbara Mikulski selected him to join her campaign team, before becoming a legislative associate in her office.
O'Malley contested for the Maryland Senate position but lost to John A. Pica. He later served in different positions before he was named the Mayor of Baltimore in 1999. He worked in that position until 2017 when he was appointed the Governor of Maryland. His tenure ended in 2015. He has spent most of his political career with the Democratic Party.
Family
He spent his early years with his parents Thomas Martin and Barbara O'Malley. He has been married to Katie Curran, an attorney, since 1990. Their children are Tara, Jack, Grace, and William.
Education
Before he started his training at the law institute of the University of Maryland, he attended a number of schools including Gonzaga College High School, Catholic University of America, and Our Lady of Lourdes School.
