Martin Petrov is a famous Bulgarian footballer who has played for popular teams, including Manchester City F.C., RCD Espanyol, Bolton Wanderers F.C., and the Bulgarian national team. He is widely known for his powerful left-foot shot.
Career
Petrov began his career playing for the Bulgarian football team, Botev Vratsa at sixteen. He later signed with CSKA Sofia, and after a few successful games in the UEFA Cup, Swiss club Servette bought the then 19-year-old player.
He also played for several top football clubs, including VfL Wolfsburg, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, and RCD Espanyol.
In 1999, he was called to join the Bulgarian national team for the Euro 2000 qualifier against England. However, he was sent off the pitch after eight minutes. Petrov made his comeback in the following Euro 2004 and 2008 championships. His performance in the 2006 qualifying matches earned him “Bulgarian Footballer of the Year”.

He earned 90 caps for his Bulgarian national team, scoring 19 goals in the process.
