Maureen Stapleton was one of the most decorated American actresses of all-time. She started her career as a stage performer, but rose to prominence in 1958 after her eye-catching performance in the film “Lonelyhearts” in which she appeared as Fay Doyle.
During her career which lasted close to six decades, Stapleton starred in many successful films which include “Reds” and “Airport”.

She was born to Irene Walsh and John P. Stapleton. This actress was married twice. Her first was to Max Allentuck which ended in 1959. Four years after her divorce, she tied the knot with American screenwriter David Rayfiel but their union ended in 1966.
Awards
Stapleton was a recipient of many awards including the Golden Globe Award, the Academy Award and the BAFTA Award. In 1981, she became a member of the American Theatre Hall of Fame.
