About Mike Golic
Michael Louis Golic Sr., professionally known as Mike Golic, is an American former gridiron football star. He mainly played as a defensive lineman and had an impressive career in the National Football League (NFL) that spanned from 1985 to 1993. After retiring from football, he became a full-time sports media personality.
Background & Early Life
Golic was raised in his birthplace, Willowick, Ohio. He is a former student of St. Joseph High School, Ohio, and a 1985 management and finance graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He played excellent college football at Notre Dame and captained the team in his senior season.
NFL Career
The Houston Oilers selected him in round 10 of the 1985 NFL Draft. Golic was an eight-year NFL superstar, playing as a defensive lineman for the Houston Oilers (1985–1987), Philadelphia Eagles (1987–1992), and Miami Dolphins (1993). He played about 115 NFL games and starred in five playoffs.
Media Career
He began his television career on the weekly “Randall Cunningham” show during his five-year stay at the Philadelphia Eagles. He has hosted and reported on several sports shows since then, including ESPN’s “Mike & Mike,” “Golic and Wingo,” and the “Sunday NFL Countdown.” In addition, beginning from 2007, he has been a color commentator for the “Arena Football League.”
