Nell Carter was an artist and actress of American nationality. She started off as a singer in the theater before coming to the screens. In 1971, she made her first Broadway appearance. Carter was the music director (MD) of “What Time of Night It Is”, which was released in 1974 by the Westbeth Playwrights Feminist Collective.
She first gained media attention when she starred as Nell Harper in the American television sitcom series “Gimme a Break!” broadcasted from 1981-1987.
Carter was honored with two Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations for her outstanding display in the above-mentioned series. The lists of films, stage performances, and TV series she has been featured in include “Back by Midnight”, “Follow Your Heart”, “Soon”, “Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope”, and “The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo”.
