About Roberto Alomar
Roberto Alomar is a retired Puerto Rican baseball player who in 2001 won the Gold Glove Award for the tenth time. Included in the MLB’s all-time best second basemen, Alomar is the first player in that position to win the award on ten different occasions.
He was brought into the league in 1988 by the San Diego Padres. After two years, he joined the Toronto Blue Jays where he won two World Series (in 1992 and 1993). Before ending his MLB career, he featured for some renowned teams including the Cleveland Indians, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox.
Family
He followed in the footsteps of his father Santos Alomar Sr., who was also a famous baseball player. His mother is called María Velázquez and a brother named Sandy Jr. who has also made a name for himself in the league.
In 2012, he tied the knot with Kim Perks with a child called Robertito.
Achievements
He was selected into the All-Star twelve times. In 2000, he won his fourth Silver Slugger Award. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.
Trivia
Aside from his father, Alomar also idolized José Cruz.
