About Salvador Dalí
Salvador Dalí was a Spanish surrealist painter best known for his piece on melting clocks and his eccentric personality.
Legacy
Dali was almost as well known for his ostentatious lifestyle as he was for his artwork. He had an over-the-top, handle-bar moustache which became his trademark. He was disinherited by his father after writing that he spits on his late mother’s portrait. He was married to an eccentric woman named Gala and they lived in the U.S. as well as a castle Europe. Dali considered Gala to be his muse. Dali incorporated scientific theories, illusions, and mathematical puzzles into his paintings; The Persistence of Memory is one of his most notable works that exams Einstein’s theory of time.
Trivia
Dali was heavily inspired by Pablo Picasso. He attempted to put himself into ‘suspended animation’ by dehydrating himself. Dali designed several dresses including a dress for fashion icon Christian Dior.
