Sicily, Italy, is his birthplace. However, he has lived in Belgium since age three and, as a result, holds dual citizenship from Italy and Belgium. He received formal education from a Catholic school of the “Frères des Ecoles Chrétiennes.”

He began composing his songs during his teens. However, his career began to rise after winning a “Radio Luxembourg” show in February 1960, with his song, “Si j'etais.”
