About Scott Hamilton
Scott Hamilton is a former figure skater of American nationality. He started skating at an early age. When he was thirteen years old, he began his skating practice with Pierre É. E. Brunet, a professional and former Olympic winner. In 1980, his career saw a great shift when he placed third in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and secured a place on the U. S. A. Olympic team. In that year’s Winter Olympics, Hamilton placed fifth.
He rose to prominence in 1981 after he displayed an outstanding performance during that year’s U.S. Championships. From that year onwards, Hamilton won all his amateur competitions. Three years later, he became a professional skater. As a professional, his winning streak did not stop. He has participated in several tournaments such as the World Figure Skating Championships, Skate America, Skate Canada, Nebelhorn Trophy, and NHK Trophy.
Education
He was educated at Kenwood Elementary School and Bowling Green State University.
Family
As a child, he was adopted and raised by Ernest S. Hamilton and Dorothy McIntosh. His two siblings are Steven Hamilton and Susan Hamilton. In 2002, he tied the knot with Tracie Robinson. His four children are Jean-Paul Hamilton, Evelyne Hamilton, Maxx Hamilton, and Aidan McIntosh Hamilton.
Awards
In 1985, the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association awarded him with the 1984 Most Courageous Athlete Award. Also, in 1996, he was honored with the United States Sports Academy's Mildred Didrikson Zaharias Courage Award. That same year, he was the recipient of the Academy of Achievement Golden Plate Award. Hamilton was a gold medalist in the 1981 World Figure Skating Championships and the 1984 Olympics. Additionally, he is a four-time consecutive World Championships and U.S. championships winner.
