About Sister Nivedita
Sister Nivedita was a follower of the doctrines of Swami Vivekananda. She was best known for her role in promoting girl child education in North Calcutta where she established the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Girls' School in 1898.
She went on to publish many books with the most popular ones entitled “The Web of Indian Life” and “An Indian Study of Love and Death”.
Personal Life
Her original name was Margaret Elizabeth Noble. She was born to Irish parents called Samuel Richmond and Mary Isabel Noble. Her other siblings were Richmond and May.
Trivia
She was influenced by Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, a famous Swiss educationist.
Her works had an impact on many scholars including Abanindranath Tagore.
