Nicknamed “The Swiss Express” and “Forrest Gump” for his athleticism and physical endurance, Swiss retired soccer player Stephan Lichtsteiner’s career in the sport lasted for two decades. He played in the right-back, right wing-back and right midfield positions in his senior career, which began in 2001 with the Swiss club, Grasshopper. Four years later, he moved to Lille in France. He also had memorable career highs with Lazio (2008-2011) and Juventus (2011-2018). He retired after one-year stints with Arsenal and FC Augsburg.
Family Life
He grew up in the Lucerne district of Switzerland. He has been married to a fitness instructor and economist named Manuela Markworth. They have two children together.
Achievements
He won seven consecutive Serie A championships with Juventus. He emerged as the Swiss Footballer of the Year in 2015.
