About Valerie Solanas
Valerie Solanas may have been known for her radical feminist views but the author was made famous in the late 1960s by her criminal act of attempted murder. Solanas’ first published work was “A Young Girl's Primer on How to Attain the Leisure Class”, an autobiographical short story which she wrote in 1965, the same year she wrote her play, “Up Your Ass”. In June 1968, after failing to get artist and filmmaker Andy Warhol to produce the play for over a year, she went to his studio and shot him. She is also known for her radical feminist manifesto, “SCUM Manifesto”.
