About Ward Bond
Many pundits have argued that Ward Bond’s background as a football player helped him in his rise to stardom. He made his acting debut in the 1929 football film titled “Salute”. After his performance, the American actor became one of the hottest prospects in the American movie industry.
He would best be remembered for playing the Major Seth Adams character in the television series entitled “Wagon Train” which premiered on the NBC network. Throughout his over three decades stay in the movie industry, he appeared in over 200 films which include “The Searchers” and “It's a Wonderful Life”.
Family
He was one of the children of Mabel and John Bond, and was raised alongside a sister called Bernice. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Doris Sellers Childs, but they divorced in 1944. Ten years later, he was married to Mary Louise May.
Education
He attended East High School, and the Colorado School of Mines before enrolling at the University of Southern California.
Trivia
Bond suffered from epilepsy which prevented him from serving in the U.S. Army
During his time in college he played football.
