About Wayne Shorter
Wayne Shorter, a multiple Grammy Award-winning saxophonist, and composer, is one of the few jazz musicians who can really be termed as a true hero.
Having a keen interest in music as a child he was urged by his father to take up the clarinet, which he did. Citing Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, and Coleman Hawkins as an early inspiration he came to wider popularity as a member and main songwriter for Art Blakey's jazz combo Jazz Messengers. With said collective he recorded several popular albums, toured around the world and composed pieces.
Following his success with the Jazz Messengers, He later joined Miles Davis' Second Quintet in the 1960s, after which he co-founded Weather Report with Joe Zawinul.
With an impressive musical journey, spanning over six decades, Shorter is recognized for multiple successful albums, including "Super Nova," "Beyond the Sound Barrier," "Night Dreamer," and "Second Genesis."
Family
He married Carolina Dos Santos in 1999. Before that, his spouses were Ana Maria Shorter between 1970 and 1996, and Teruko Nakagami from 1961 until 1964.
He has two children namely Miyako Shorter and Iska Shorter
He was born to Joseph Shorter and Louise Shorter.
He has a brother called Alan Shorter.
