About Will Durant
Will Durant worked for New York Evening Journal as one of their news reporters. He later published his first book in 1917 which was titled “Philosophy and the Social Problem”. He became a global icon with his 1926 book dubbed “The Story of Philosophy”. His philosophy of seeing things from “the perspective of the whole” earned him many admirers.
Family
He was raised by his parents Mary Allard and Joseph Durant. Until his death, he was married to Ariel Kaufman with whom he wrote perhaps his most popular work entitled “The Story of Civilization”. The couple had two kids.
Education
He was a student of St. Peter's Preparatory School before he gained admission to Saint Peter's College.
Awards
In 1968, he received the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. He was also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
