About Bryant Gumbel
Bryant Charles Gumbel is a household name in broadcast journalism and sportscasting. Having made his television debut on the West Coast NBC flagship station KNBC in 1972 as a sportscaster, he joined the mother station three years later to co-host “GrandStand”, a pre-game show of the NFL.
He is recognized best for the 15 years (1982-1997) he spent co-hosting the morning show, “Today” on NBC. He was also a co-host of CBS’ “The Early Show” from 1999 to 2002.
Family Life
He was born to Richard and Rhea Gumbel. He has three siblings, one of whom is fellow sportscaster Greg Gumbel. He had two children with June, his ex-wife. He married his second wife, Hilary Quinlan in 2001.
Achievements
His notable awards include multiple Emmy and NAACP Image Awards as well as a Peabody Award.
