Early Life
Born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, he studied on a year’s scholarship in Paris and later worked under French actor and director Jean-Louis Barrault.
Career Highlights
In 1958, he assumed the character of Roy Carter in an episode of the TV series “Have Gun–Will Travel.” The series also starred Richard Boone. The following year, he was cast as a guest star in NBC’s “Wagon Train.” In the Western series “Riverboat,” he starred opposite Darren McGavin and Burt Reynolds as Beau Chandler. Other TV and film credits include the 1969 sports film “Winning,” the CBS series “Three for the Road” and NBC’s “Bonanza”.
Personal life
He tied the knot with American actress Miriam Byrd-Nethery. They had two sons together. Miriam died in 2003. 19 years later, the actor passed away. The cause of death was said to be of natural causes.
Recognition
He was the 1966 Western Heritage Award winner for his role in the TV series “The Virginian.”
