Background
Eddings was raised in Spokane, Washington in the United States to his father George Wayne Eddings and his mother Theone Eddings.
He attended Snohomish High School where he worked for a year before majoring in speech, drama and English at junior college.
Early Career
At his junior level, Eddings showcased a great talent for drama and literature, winning a national oratorical contest, and performing the lead role in most of his drama productions. He later graduated with a Bachelor Arts from Reed College finishing his first novel, “How Lonely Are The Dead", which served as his senior thesis.
David Eddings started his career with general fiction books which did well in the market. Along the line he switched to epic fantasy books, which achieved great success.
Career Lows
In January 2007, Eddings accidentally burned up to a half of his office, his Excalibur sports car, along with the first drafts of some of his novels.
Death
Eddings died on June 2, 2009, aged 77, at his residence in Carson City, Nevada. The writer is reported to have died of natural causes.
