With a deep interest in music, he began his profession at a young age, working with his brother and two friends. They were encountered and handed their first record deal by Johnny Cash. He was a pivotal member in the band, helping them achieve worldwide success with a succession of successes that spawned a four-decade career in the music industry, including "The Best of the Statler Brothers", “The World of The Statler Brothers”, and “Pardners in Rhyme”. As a songwriter, he has penned numerous chart-topping singles of the band.
