About Eddie Shore
Admired for his defensive skills and toughness, Canadian ice hockey legend Eddie Shore is considered as one of the greatest players to star in the National Hockey League. Mostly used as a defenceman, Shore began his professional career in 1925 with Western Canada Hockey League side the Regina Capitals.
He went on to play for the Edmonton Eskimos in 1926 before joining NHL’s Boston Bruins. He played a key role in the team’s 1929 Stanley Cup success. A decade later, he helped the team to win the cup again.
After his Playing Career
After leaving the Bruins in 1939, he purchased the American Hockey League’s Springfield Indians. He worked as a player-owner before it folded up during the Second World War. He later joined the Buffalo Bisons as a coach where he won two Calder Cups. Shore also bought the Oakland Oaks, which was then playing in the Pacific Coast Hockey League.

He was married to Kate Macrae.
Honors
In 1947, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. He’s also a member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. The Canadian won four Hart Memorial Trophies, and was a recipient of the Lester B. Patrick Award in 1970.

Canadian actor Stephen McHattie played his character in the 2010 miniseries “Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story”.
