About Frank Weston Benson
American artist Frank Weston Benson made his name known after he began to paint portraits of distinguished families and their murals for the United States Library of Congress. He was known to create realistic portraits and sketches until his death in 1951.
Early Life
The artist was born to George Wiggin Benson and Elisabeth Poole. He first enrolled and graduated from the Académie Julian. He then attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.
Career
The impressionist painter later became an ornithological illustrator and enjoyed painting sceneries and vivid representations of climate. He also has numerous paintings in his collection, including “After the Storm" and the “Portrait of Joseph Lindon Smith” in 1884.
Personal Life
The painter married Ellen Perry Peirson in 1888 and was survived by 4 children.
