The American star-athlete-turned-politician was a former professional Major League Baseball (MLB) baseman. After hanging his baseball boots, he served as baseball coach and later ventured into politics.
Background
A product of Longview Community College in Lee's Summit, he was born in Greenville, Mississippi.
Baseball Career
He played second baseman and shortstop and was a 5-time All Star. He was named the winner of the Gold Award eight times. He played for the Kansas City Monarchs for 18 seasons. He appeared in his final game on September 30, 1990 and retired from baseball with a career batting average of 0.255 and 160 home runs.
Politics
In 2014, Frank White joined the race for the Jackson City Legislature in 2014 as a Democrat and won. After Mike Sanders resignation, the Jackson County Legislature named him county executive in early 2016.
Accolade
White was welcomed into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1994
