About Henry Moseley
Henry Moseley was a highly-rated English physicist who contributed a lot to the atomic number concept. From 1913 to 1914, he came up with the ‘Moseley's law’ which talked about the characteristics of x-rays produced by atoms.
He was one of the key figures in the development and designing of some of the earliest X-ray machines. He also worked with some institutions like the University of Oxford and the University of Manchester.
Family
He was the son of British naturalist Henry Nottidge Moseley. His mother was called Amabel Gwyn Jeffreys.
Education
Moseley attended Summer Fields School and Eton College before enrolling at the University of Oxford’s Trinity College.
Recognitions
The Henry Moseley Medal and Prize which was introduced by the Institute of Physics, was named after him.
Trivia
Moseley would have won the 1916 edition of the Nobel Prize in Physics if not for the First World War.
He served in the British Army as a member of the Royal Engineers during the First World war.
