Over his 40-year acting career, Jack Weston proved to be a truly versatile actor. Whether he was playing the bad or a down-on-his luck guy, he left a mark in Hollywood.
Early Life and Career
When he was 12 years old, Weston performed in numerous stage productions. He later joined the US Army in 1943, where he served for slightly over two years. Upon his return, he took up stage acting again before transitioning into film in 1958, starring in “Stage Struck.” Directed by Sidney Lumet, the film had a cast that included Susan Strasberg, Joan Greenwood, and Henry Fonda.
Weston would later star in several other movies like “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies”, “Palm Springs Weekend”, and most notably in the cult romantic classic “Dirty Dancing”, where he played the resort owner.
The Cleveland, Ohio-born actor also made numerous TV appearances such as “Captain Video and His Video Rangers”, “Bewitched”, and “My Sister Eileen.”
Personal Life
He was first married to Marge Redmond for almost 30 years and then later to Laurie Gilkes, with whom he had a child.
Death
Weston died in 1996 from lymphoma.
