About Jahangir Khan
Jahangir Khan is a world-renowned and former World No. 1 squash player. He is regarded by many as the greatest squash player throughout history.
Early Life
Khan was born frail and with a hernia into a family of squash players in Karachi, Pakistan. As a child, his doctor cautioned his family to keep him off the squash courts. However, he took up the sport under the tutelage of his father, Roshan Khan, who was a recognized squash champion and had won the 1957 British Open title.
Career
At 14, he began his squash career at the national level. By 15, he was the youngest world amateur champion. He went on to win the World Open 6 times and the British Open 10 consecutive times. He retired in 1993, and from 2002 to 2008, served as the President of the World Squash Federation. In 2008, he was appointed Emeritus President of the Federation.
Achievements
During his career, Khan remained unbeaten in 555 consecutive games in the span of 5 years! He also earned an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from the London Metropolitan University for his achievements in sports.
Personal Life
He married Ghazala in the 1990s, and the pair have three children, including Omar and Mariam.
