About Kirby Doyle
Kirby was named Stanton Doyle at birth and he is a native of San Francisco, California. He became known for his works in poetry.
He studied in San Francisco State University where he specialized in art and culinary studies. While there, he wrote a few poems that got published in the school’s magazine and started getting him recognized. His writing connected him to the likes of Kenneth Rexroth and Robert Duncan. He was also a United States Army Veteran. The collection of love poems he wrote drew more attention to him and got him recognized. He wrote about ten collections of poems and the novel “Happiness Bastard”.
Achievements
His work got published in the Chicago Review together with the works of famed writers like Allen Ginsberg in 1958. He is said to be one of the few San Francisco Renaissance poets whose efforts laid the foundation for beat poetry in the city.
Death
In April 2005, he died in the city of his birth.
