The former ballet dancer and actress is notably one of the finest dancers in America of her era. She featured on the television series “Happy Days” and played the role of Nadine in the 1987 film “Dancers”.
Family Life
She is the daughter of Isabel Mirrow and Kelly Kingman Brown. Both parents were also dancers. She wed Leonid Slepak.
Education
The dancer studied at the School of American Ballet and enrolled in the New York City ballet. She also trained as an actor at HB Studio, Greenwich Village.
Dancing Career
Browne became a member of the American Ballet Theatre in 1976 as a solo-dancer and rose to become its principal in 1866.
She first appeared on Broadway in the 1948 musical “The Red Shoes”. She later performed the role of Emilia Rodgers in the 1977 film “The Turning Point” directed by Herbert Ross. In the film, she starred alongside Tom Skerrit, Martha Scott and Marshall Thompson.
Trivia
Browne began dancing at the young age of six at her dad’s studio in Arizona.
Honors
The skilled dancer received the “Distinguished Achievement Award” presented by the New York City Dance Alliance.
