About Libertad Lamarque
Libertad Lamarque was very famous among the Latin Americas. Affectionately referred to as "The Sweetheart of the Americas", Lamarque was cast in over 60 films in countries like Spain and Mexico. The Mexican-Argentine actress was best known for her Rosaura role in the 1957 film “The Woman Who Had No Childhood”.
Some popular films that she starred in were Argentina’s 1947 film “Musical Romance” and “If You Came Back to Me” which also featured actors like Silvia Pinal and Miguel Torruco.
Music Career
Lamarque was also into music. In 1926, she released an LP titled "Gaucho sol". That same year, she issued a single which was named "Chilenito". Her last LP came in 1990 which was named "En 1988 !Canta Asi!".
Family
Her parents were Josefa Bouza and Gaudencio Lamarque. Her marriage to Emilio Romero resulted in the birth of a daughter named Mirtha. She later married Argentine musician Alfredo Malerba.
Honors
Regarded as one of the iconic figures in Mexican and Argentine cinema, Lamarque won many awards throughout her career. Some of her numerous prizes were the Konex Platinum Award, and the Critic's Choice Award. In 2000, she received Ariel’s “Lifetime Achievement” award.
Trivia
She starred in the Venezuelan telenovela titled “Esmeralda”.
Her self-titled autobiography was published in 1986.
