About Marcus Aurelius
Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor.
His Reign
Marcus Aurelius began his famous reign in the year of 161. For the first eight years, he shared rule with Lucius Verus. Verus died in 169, giving Aurelius full control. For the earlier parts of his reign, Aurelius was largely successful. He fought and defeated the eastern Parthia during this time. During the end of his reign, nomadic people like the Germanic tribes were becoming more and more troublesome for Aurelius. He had trouble with invasions from the Sarmatians, Marcomanni, and Quadi.
His Work
One of the best examples of Stoic philosophy, Meditations, is by Aurelius.
