About Marv Levy
Marv Levy coached two major National Football League teams from 1969 with overall career records of 149 wins, 128 losses and one draw. He retired in 1997at the Buffalo Bills.
Education
At Coe College, he studied English Literature and was voted SRC president twice. In 1951, he graduated from Harvard with a master’s in English history.
Major Coaching
He began as assistant coach at the Philadelphia Eagles in 1969 before moving to head the Kansas City Chiefs in 1978 until 1982. From 1986 he was the Buffalo Bills’ head coach until his retirement.
Records
Levy led the Buffalo Bills to win the Conference Championships four consecutive times between 1990 and 1993 and, by retirement, he was top in total wins for the Buffalos and fifth for the Chiefs.
Honors
He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He has earned credit for coaching award-winning players such as Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith and Shane Conlan.
